I want to buy a bigger hard drive for my MacBook, what's the best way to clone it?

I use SuperDuper! - http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html

Another alternative is Carbon Copy Cloner - http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html

Either will get the job done, but I recommend using SuperDuper! so you will always have a good bootable clone of your system anyway.

1) Put new drive in USB enclosure
2) Drag and drop the entire contents of Macintosh HD to the new drive
3) Put new drive inside MacBook
4) Start MacBook up, with everything exactly as is was before.

You should be able to restore everything from a time machine backup. When I first turned on my mini mac it asked if I want to restore from time machine.

No, you won't be able to just drag and drop everything and have it boot.

You'd have to either create a clone using one of the apps above to the new drive in the USB enclosure, then simply swap the drive and boot, or do as fishepa suggests and put in the new drive, begin the installation of Leopard, and tell it to restore from Time Machine. I've done it that way as well and it takes longer, but works just fine.
