I have manage to recover my back 2013 MacBook Air back from the thieves. When I power on now it shows lock and which I googled is efi lock.

I typed the password I set from iCloud find my Mac and my original user password and nothing work.

What happened and How do I fix this? And if it needs to go to apple, how much will it cost?

First, see if Apple Support can help. You may be able to start a chat. or have them call you at a specific time.

Welcome to our forums.

Apple support is not going to help you clear an EFI password lock. What you need to do is take the machine to Apple with your original purchase receipt and your ID card. They will take care of it.

That is the ONLY way Apple will unlock that machine.
