Hey all,

As I posted previously I am in Milwaukee, WI for Work (yawn :()

So anyways I was in training class and my work Laptop started acting up so I decided to go ahead and install Parallels and Windows (yeah I kow) so I can get through the class.

Anyways, I should be starting the install in about an hour or so, any tips or hints that I need to know that will make it go smoother.

Thanks in Advance.

Cheers :D

It's pretty straight forward. Just make sure before you creat your VM that you run the Software Update within Parallels to get the latest updates.

Parallels is very easy to use. Just a few clicks through a Wizard and about an hour later, you have a full copy of Windows sitting on your desktop :D

Not bad, but no display driver means no games through there i'm guessing?

Don't forget to install Parallels Tools. If it doesn't install automatically (you should see it start directly after the Windows install), click on "Install Parallels Tools" from the Actions menu.

Thanks cwa107,

I used the Auto Install feature in Parallel, which took care of installing the Tools as well.

Man its just amazing how Solid this MacBook is proving to be by the minutes.

I have to agree with one of the reviews that I read during my research b4 I buy my MacBook. The Best system to run Windows XP is a Mac... :D

That one is for u Mr Billy Gates :p

One of the things I've found to be very cool about Parallels is the ability to run it in tandem with Bootcamp. Doing so basically gives you the best of both worlds. If you want to play a game, you can always run your XP installation in Bootcamp. If you just need to run a normal Windows program, you can do so in Parallels. It's not quite as flexible as running Parallels in virtual disk mode, but the trade-offs are few (basically, you have to shut the machine down instead of suspend when you're finished) and you do have the added incentive of being able to use Bootcamp when you need it. I believe this feature is new in the latest versions, but definitely something to consider before you invest too much time in your existing Windows installation.
