You haven't given us any information about your Mac or which version of OS X you're running. However, it appears your machine has a fusion drive and that you are employing FileVault. Be careful with terminal commands and make sure you have a current backup. And that you do not missplace or forget your FileVault key.

Oh my appologies. New to this. I am on a brand new 27 in imac 3.5 running El Cap. My fusion drive is split in two and I guess i can say it keeps happening and I think they are corrupting the OS.

OK. My advice to you is get on the phone with Apple Care and make an appointment with them and let them diagnose the problem. Since your machine is still under warranty and you have a fusion drive that's acting up, let them handle it. Let us know how it goes.

Same problem... Please help

Scott please help me...
I am having the same problem with the freaking hidden partitions of 524.3kb and I can not delete them...

I believe they could be part of a rootkit virus...

I am able to reformat them but i can not delete them nor merge them in a single one.... If I reboot, they come back the same way they were before... That is why I think they may be a rootkit firmware type... The one that also modify the BIOS ROM code. Apple support can not help me either.

Did you ever solve this issue?
How did you do it???

Please advise!!!

Thank you!

Your Mac does not have a BIOS (therefore, no BIOS ROM code) nor do you have a rootkit virus as there is none that can infect your Mac. Without any further info from you about your Mac (year and model) and which version of OS X it's running, it's not possible to offer any advice. Also, you might want to include screen shots from Disk Utility when you post back.

Dear chscag

I noticed my problem running OSx 10.6.3 then I upgraded it to 10.6.8.... Now I run el capitan 10.11.4

I have an imac 11.3

Please take a look at this

Maybe this guy is right. This engineer describes why the mac are so vulnerable to this type of virus
