iPhone 4s.
I have received an "update" request on my 4s to upgrade to iOS8.0.2 which I don't want to do. I now have a red 1 marker on my "settings" icon which I can't get rid of. Going into the settings it is under the "general" folder advising me of the availability of the update.
How can I get rid of this notification without actually doing the update please?

I still have that same annoying notification for ios 7 which I don't want either. Can't get rid if it so I just moved it to a less viewed screen to minimize the reminder.

The only way i know of to do this is to jailbreak the phone. There are more than a few tweaks to get rid of badges.

It's working for me...

FWIW ;): I had been having the problem that my iPad Air would not sync books with iTunes on my iMac. I decided to be daring and upgraded to iOS 8.0.2 last evening and immediately after it finished, all the books I had on the iMac started downloading to the iPad. They fixed something for me and iOS 8.0.2 is working fine for me so far.
