I am having problem trying to install & use Sierra on mid 2012 mac book pro

Is anyone else struggling with this, and are there any pointer?
Specifically even setting up a user name is not working.

I think I need a newer computer, though apple reps keep denying that.

So

A - what would be the earlest REFURBISHED MacBook pro I should be looking for to make sierra & newer system versions for the next 2 years (for instance) ?
B - where can I look for this, or who refurbishes Them?

I see Walmart has good prices for that, but I wont to look at other sources as well.

Nope. You don't need to get a newer computer to run Sierra. Most Apple computer models from 2010 & newer can run Sierra. And there are some models from 2009 and newer. A 2012 MacBook Pro should not have a problem.

Tell us how you are trying to do this, do you have an Apple ID to access the App Store, are you downloading and burning to a USB thumb drive. The App Store is the only place to get Sieraa. Do not use Torrent downloads period.

I recently update my macbook to ElCap, which works good, so you can try to upgrade to el first.

FYI, I'm running a Mid-2012 MBP with Sierra and it runs just fine. No issues. I did upgrade from El Cap so that may smooth the transition, but the 2012 MBP does fine with Sierra.
