On a w3c page I came across this sentence: "The HTML <q> tag defines a short quotation." That's news to me. Actually good news.
I like it because it's easier to remember than “ — and </q> is easier than ” to remember.
My question: Has <q> been around forever, or is it new? And if it's new, will older versions of browsers recognize it?
Also, what is a "short quotation"? Does it matter? If a quotation is more than, say, a hundred words, what will a browser do? "Hey, q isn't enough here! I need “ and ”"
