How well does iOS 8 work on the iPhone 5?

Hey guys, I still have an old iPhone 4 that is dying on me. Because I cannot afford an iPhone 5S or 6, I was looking around on eBay for iPhone 5's and luckily they're in my price range.

I only fear that iOS 8 might be laggy and slow on them so I would like some advice on whether I should get it or not. Thanks!

It works fine on my iPhone 5s, but I can't say for the iPhone 5. Should work fine, but if you prefer there's nothing wrong with sticking to iOS 7, you just miss out on the newer features.

I have to point out that the iPhone 5s is $99 (and often less) on contract ...

And iOS 8 works fine on an iPhone 5C. I probably don't use my iPhone as much as most folks but the upgrade from iOS 7 to 8 has actually extended my battery life. A big plus.

IOS 8 works fine on my iPhone 5, the only caveat being it takes more space on my 16GB drive so I had to delete some stuff before installing. I have an iPod Classic for my music, so it wasn't a big deal for me. If your iPhone 5 will double as a music player I suggest you get a 32GB version.
