I have a macbook pro and I want to use 2 monitors with it but have the laptop screen blank so that it does not show anything? How do I do this?

At the moment I use the laptop for keyboard and mouse. If I used an external keyboard/mouse would it make this situation more feasible as I could then close the lid of the laptop?

Thanks

I only have one external monitor attached to my MBP (and that's all I can put on it without third-party hardware or a Thunderbolt hub, I think), but on the very rare occasions I want to darken the MBP's built-in screen, I just ... dim the screen to black using the screen dimming controls on my external KB or the built-in KB. This doesn't affect the screen that is using the DVI/TB port.
