Hello all. I first would like to offer my apologies bc my question is going to be bizarre...

For reasons that are beyond my control, I am in a weird situation where I have to intervene in death of an 8 year old iMac. Is there a way that I can 'break' my Mac? Magnet to a certain portion of the Mac? Dropping water on the motherboard? It was to be discrete.

Please help!

Well - I don't think you're going to get any help with "discreetly" breaking a computer here as there can't be any good or above-board reasons to want to do that.

Tell us why you want to destroy the iMac. Otherwise se really can not help you.

I would think it would be far better to donate it to a less fortunate individual.

If nothing else - I guess this thread serves as a testimony to the longevity of some of those older Macs - since this one obviously hasn't died on its own. :|

This is like reading the first half of a Mystery and then losing the book! ;P

Now I'm dying to know the story behind the thread.

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. Based on the information you've provided, it would be reasonable to assume that there is nothing good that will come of this discussion.
