So I just transfered a file called 'school' from my external HD to my macbook pro to my 'documents folder' - in which i already had another folder called 'school'. It prompted me wheter i wanted to overwrite this folder and i clicked yes - assuming all files already in the folder would remain intact.

i go look inside the folder once the transfer is done and i lost all previous files in the folder. what?!

does anybody know if there is any way to reccup the files? given that i didnt make a back up before transfering these files...

please someone out there, help me!!! all my school work for the semester is lost if i have no way to reccup the files...

Unfortunately, when you chose to overwrite the folder that is exactly what happened. It is gone now, overwritten by the data that you moved and replaced it with.
