How to Print Window?

In OSX, how does one print the active window? You know, like the contents of a folder. In OS 9.x, I was able to simply hit command+P with the window up front and it would print. Not so in OSX. I'd hate to have to do a screen capture and then print it out of Phototshop like in Windows. Anyone?

Shift, Apple, 4 will bring up a little targe icon where you can select a box to take a pdf snapshot of the screen. Once that target icon is up, if you hit spacebar the icon changes to a camera and you can take a snapshot of whaterver window you are hovering over with the icon. It's actually alot simpler than I make it sound...

I think he means to print a list of the contents of a folder.

there is an actual aplication that allows you to pic the windows and folders you want to print or save as files. my teacher actually suggest that we use this...allthough i dont see a big use to it you might like it http://swssoftware.com/products/printwindow.html

Maybe this helps from Mac OS X himts:
What if you want to save a big document, such as a long HTML page, that spans many screens on your monitor? An easy method, that's built right into Mac OS X, is to convert it the page to a .pdf file.

Go to the File menu and then choose Print. At the bottom of the Print dialogue box, you will see a button that reads Preview. Click it and it will process your document and open the Preview application that's included with Mac OS X.

You'll notice that when your document is displayed in the Preview application (or sometimes in Adobe Acrobat), it already looks like a .pdf file. Now all you have to do is choose File, then Save As PDF, and Mac OS X will convert your entire document into a real live multi-page .pdf document.

This is much easier than using Grab to save multiple screens, and then have to keep them in the proper order.
