I'm setting up an address book (using OS X's Address Book) for my mother, who has macular degeneration disease and can't see small print well. She has a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 and I have one running 10.8.5. I'm setting up her contacts on my computer and will export them and take them 75 miles up and import on her laptop. What I can't figure out is how to make the text larger. If I click Zoom, it just makes the page slightly larger. Is there a way to do this that I just haven't found?

I don't use it, but have you checked in Preferences to see if there are font settings?

The only thing I can suggest is that you try a third party application which can increase the font size in specific applications. One that you can try and is free is "Tinker Tool". Be sure to download the version applicable to the version of OS X running on her machine.

Also... have you tried going through the "Accessibility" options that are available in System Preferences? I'm not sure what they're called in Snow Leopard (10.6.8) but should be easy to find. Open that preference panel and select the options that refer to vision.

Thanks for the replies. I've gone thru everything I can think of in preferences and nothing seems to help. Accessibility LOOKS like it should be helpful, but maybe I don't understand how it works because nothing changed on my system. I'll try the Tinker option once I'm up at mom's. It just seems like changing to a larger font should be Job #1 before some of the other options in the Address Book application. You can't even do the two-finger spread on the trackpad, which made this reply box enormous!
