I have a Mac Mini, and I'd like to see the actual lin
k speed, like you can see on an XP system. I know there is the Airport signal meter, and also the Network Utility that seems to show the link speed, but it always seems to show either 54mbps, or nothing. I can have a very weak siginal, and it will still say 54mbps.

So is there a way to see the actual link speed, and not just kb/s benchmarking?

Isn't kb/s benchmarking essentially your link speed? After all your the link speed is given is the same format. There may be a third party utility that will show your actual throughput in realtime but I'm not aware of it.

I would like to see this aswell if somebody knows of the third party app I wouldn't mind actually knowing my link speed, although if I ever want fast connection I just plug in, but out of curriostity I would like to know my link speed as well, so not high jacking this thread, just putting in the same inquery, so you would be helping out 2 people if you knew the answer.

While I have yet to find a way to show the link speed, the way you can in Windows XP, I have come across a nice tool to monitor your transfer rate.

StreamWatcher

While you can use the Activity Monitor that comes with OS X, with StreamWatcher, you can turn the update interval all the way down to 0.1sec, thought 0.3 seems to be the sweet spot.
