Mid 2013 Macbook Pro, I started avitvity monitor to end a process which was taking to long, after that every time I restart now, activity monitor appears without myself having chosen an option for it to do so. Looking in Users and Groups Login items I am seeing only one entry "itunes helper" so I can't figure out how to disable it from startup, help please?

You've checked the first thing I thought of (Login Items) and apparently it's not there. While it is running click its con in the Dock ang go to Options. Is Open at Login checked? I don't think so but it's worth a look.

It worked by using the "Quit activity monitor" option in the toolbar.

Glad you got that worked out.

BTW with regard to the other thread: Looks like Dave clarified my suggestion a bit. Hope that solves the problem.
