If you find it annoying jumping through hoops (Apple logo>shutdown>clicking countdown timer for immediate shutdown; keyboard: control>option>command and eject all at once) to simply shut down your iMac (I KNOW! Most of you just put it in sleep mode) here's a genuine one-click way to shut it down.
Set up Hot Corners (Pref>Mission Control) and designated it to go to Dashboard.
Download PowerSwitch widget. https://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/networking_security/powerswitch_platkusworldsoftware.html
Now all you have to do is swipe to your "hot corner" and click the icon. Drag the icon close to the corner to reduce the mouse travel distance, if you want.Done.
