I have latest iMovie (10.0.6) but cannot access any Preferences tabs. I wish to turn on Advanced but when I click...Preferences all I get is two check boxes...1. to add slow motion and 2. to turn on cloud (which is greyed out anyway. That's it...no tabs..no nothing else... Is this a bug?

Not come across any other topics on this, and those are the only options that I have as well.

Take a look at your Application folder and see if you have a folder named "iMovie 9.0.9 which is the previous version. When I updated it kept the old version and move it to a separate folder. The older version has an option for "Advanced Tools" and (to me) seems easier to use than the newer 10.0.6.

Further you should find version 9.0.9 that chscag refers to in a plain blue folder directly under purple star 10.0.6 version.

Brand new mac mini. Only version installed is 10,0,6
So I guess there's no more option for 'Advanced'

Unfortunately, that's correct. Some folks say the newer version of iMovie is superior, however, I don't think so which is why I continue to use the older version. If you can find a copy of 9.0.9 somewhere (legally), get it. ;)

Found it. You actually have to drag ...for example....a green screen clip to the timeline above another clip and when a green plus appears let go and up top over preview a new drop down adjustment box will appear. If you don't get the green plus then no drop down will appear..
