How on earth can I be using this much RAM?

Wow, something is definitely wrong. All of your processes besides Safari are using up 2-3x the amount of RAM compared to my machine. Your copy of Safari is using up 10-15x the amount of RAM it is on my Mac.

I honestly have no idea how to fix this sort of problem. Just wanted to state that it's definitely not normal.

all these probs seem to be after the 10.4.9 patch.

hmm, maybe ill call apple see what they say

well, after another reboot from updating the patch. i watched the RAM meter on istat nano...it slowly went up and up and up(the RAM being used).

memory leak?

i am repairing permissions now.

If you drop the computer into a tub of water, bubbles will reveal the memory leak, and you can temporarily patch it with gum.

But if that doesn't work, try the single-user restart, fsck -fy thing, or better yet use Applejack that can also look for corrupted preferences in the system and in your personal user's files.

well according to applecare, i need to wait. ugh

they emailed me a program and had me attach the results to an email and they will call me back in 3-5 business days
