I need to get some extra money to buy some audio equipment. And seeing as how I barely use my G5, I might sell it. But Mac2Sell is giving me a cheap price as I see powermac g5's with lower specs selling for more.

Specs:
1.5TB HD (750x2)
2GB RAM
1.80ghz Processor
Superdrive
OSX 10.5.8
and comes with wireless antenna but no card.

Mac2Sell says $300. But I was going to base the price somewhat off of this listing: Apple Power Mac G5 Desktop (October, 2005) | eBay

I know it have a better processer and slightly better ram but I figured the doubled HD Space could make up for that.

I just need ideas on a price to sell it at.

I'm not up on used Mac prices, but I do note that the G5 you link to has had zero bids in the 2 days it has been up for sale . . . not sure I would want to use that as a basis. More reasonable would be to look at recently closed auction for similar G5s and see what they went for IMO.

About $150 as it is an very early model. Either a 2003 or 2004 model at the latest. Do not think you will get any interest at the listed price but who knows?

I probably wouldn't sell for less than $200, I'd just keep it. I could sell the 750GB HDs for 80 ea if I wanted, but 'd rather sell the entire thing for 300. I'm not in any hurry to sell so I will probably set the price high and lower it as it doesn't sell.

Let's please not turn this into a Buy/Sell/Trade thread...otherwise it should have been started in that sub-forum in the first place!

Thanks,

- Nick

p.s. Just to add my 2 cents. The Powermac G5 in question is only worth about $150-$200. Folks report buying dual-cpu 1.8ghz Powermac G5's in that price range all the time...one member even bought one for $100.

Thread moved to B/S/T sub-forum. Too much "buy/sell" talk to remain in the other sub-forum.

FYI...just saw a Powermac G5 dual 1.8ghz, 4gig ram, 250gig HD sell for $81.00 on e-Bay. Of course there's shipping as well.

This is probably the lowest I've ever seen a dual 1.8ghz PM G5 sell for on e-Bay or Craig's List...but it does establish the current low-end of the price range for these. $150-$200 is still more the norm at the moment.

Acrilyc: you waited too long to part with that G5, five years ago you'd have gotten a BUNDLE for it as PPC diehards were scrambling for one ... maybe even three years ago ... but now it will be amazing to me if you get $150. Sorry dude.
