I've only got the base amount of RAM in my twin G5 (500 Mb) and I'm going to replace it with a couple of Gb at least but I'm wondering what is the best amount to get the thing running a full speed. I noticed the Vram is currently reported at 2.3Gb (with nothing bar the OS running) so I'm wondering if I need to exceed that in real RAM.

Max it out! :D

The cost/benefit ratio of maxing-out the RAM on a daul G5 is not very good to say the least, unless you are using some extremely memory-intensive applications in a professional environment. You're basically talking about the cost of a whole other computer.

Amen, from what I heard.. Anything over 1.5 Gig's you will not notice a difference.. Not yet anyway.. In the future with some changes, go for it.. But at this point with memory as expensive as it is.. I don't think I would bother.. Not a big enough difference to spend the $..
