How do I get rid of Adware?

Hello all,
I desperately need help getting rid of (Adware?) that is has infected my iMac OS X!

After doing a search I found a great tool called Adware medic. It fixed the problem.

Yep, that would have been the recommendation. Also look at Adblock+ and Ghostery to prevent adware in the first place.
