How do I get my app as a Smart Stack Widget?

I wanted to add an often-used app as a Smart Stack Widget in Watch OS 10.

But when I looked for my app, the list of apps to select from did not include it. It was a limited selection of apps.

What makes an app available as a widget?

I believe it's down to the developers to provide that option within the app. Some do not have that option, yet. With iOS 17 many of these widgets have additional functions via "long press" especially the Apple native ones. I'm sure the others will catch up soon.
