I'm connected to the internet (sympatico) using the built-in ethernet. Some new application requires me to enter my Ethernet ID. How do I find out what it is?

I guess it's either an IP or MAC address, did you try sys profiler?

Go into System Preferences > Network. Click on Show: Built in ethernet, and click the tab that says "Ethernet". There is your ethernet ID.
