A question from a friend in another forum...
Can anyone help?

Ok I don't really mean that... well maybe a little. Here is my problem and I am sure that you all have heard of it but I have searched all over the place and haven't seemed to be find a solution that will work for me. I recently bought a powerbook and need to get all my songs from my iPod over to my mac. The apple people tell me to use the iPod as a huge jump drive basically but I don't have my old computer anymore (sold it to buy the powerbook) and all the songs were on that. Did I just kiss my whole collection (11G not impressive but big enough to be really upset about losing) goodbye? Surely there must be some way to get the files from my iPod drive to my mac. Anyone have any suggestions or help for me?

There's quite a few app's that will help your "friend" out with his problem. I'd first suggest looking at this forum because I know this question has been asked several times and there have been several responses to it. If that doesn't help tell him to look at www.ipodlounge.com because they have many tutorials on how to transfer music from your iPod to your Mac or PC.

EDIT: I was feeling generous tonight, so I decided to post a link for you. Tell your "friend" to go here: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-computer/. Next time, however, please try searching for the answer on the forums or googling, because you'll probably find an answer to your question more quickly and it will save us from answering the same general questions over and over again.

I don't mind at all answer questions, but this one really has been asked A LOT of times and you can easily find an answer by typing "transfer music from ipod to hard drive" on google.

I have noticed this responce a lot to questions that are asked a lot. Most newbes may also be new to to concept of forums so the don't always know about the search feature. Also, the search feature on most boards does not work that great. If you want new members to feel welcome and keep coming back the it might be a nice idea to answer these questions with a smile on your face. No one want to made to feel stupid while they are looking for answers to a problem. IMHO

I agree 100%. There are too many newbies hitting any forum on a given day that you are just not going to make any difference by suggesting a forum search over and over. In fact the repeated 'use search' suggestion is more annoying than the repeat questions. The best a Mod can do is make the search options a sticky and hope that everyone new sees it.
