Help needed with MacBook.

Hey guys I need a lot of help with my mac book.
So I was given a broken mac book by a friend, No hard drive, no battery, and so I tried to see if it worked, and through trial and error I found a crackpot way to get the image displayed on the screen, now all I need to know is what to replace. My crackpot way to get the image or just the screen to turn on is first I leave it plugged in for 25 minutes or so turned on, then I unplug it and plug it back it three times, then I revolve the fan and the image is displayed. Weird!!!
