help - iPod will not mount.....

I recently transferred some files to a friends new PowerBook via my iPod. anyway, I noticed the next day when I put my iPod in the docking station on my G4 running OS 10.3 it no longer showed up on the desktop or in iTunes. I bring my iPod to work and I have the identical system, G4 running OS 10.3 and it mounts on the desktop and in iTunes no problem. So I've unplugged my firewire cable at home, zapped the iPod and nothing seems to work. can't figure it out.

has anyone had a similar problem? suggestions to fix this problem?

oh, and I know my firewire cable is working because the ipod shows the do not disconnect screen when in the doc just doesn't show up anywhere on my mac....

Have you read up on iPods measures to limit copying to more then one box? iPod was really yelled at by the recording industry in the beginning... measures were taken to quiet the noise.
