So I have had my Imac 15' 867mhz 256ram for about 1 year now and its acting up. As soon as the applecare was over, lol. So heres the thing... My mac is freezing like an ice cube. The mouse looks like a laser light show b/c the delay is soo long from my mac thinking or doing something it is hard to know where the cursor is. and sometimes it will freeze in one place for like 30 seconds. Today I have reset my mac and erased the HD and reloaded everything but seems as though it didn't help one bit so I'm thinking its a hardware problem. the only minor solution I have come up with is switching USB ports for my keyboard input. If it gets stuck and I switch the USB port it buys me a few minutes before the next freezing section. WHAT CAN I DO?!? Help me out....

Thanks,
Mike

hmm, does the keyboard freeze as well? If not then its a line break in your mouse...

but probly not

so your computer freezes at random.. could be just that your HD is failing.. I guess i need more info how when and how it happens... have you tried running it from a CD?

a new hd will run you bout 50-120 bucks depending on how big you plan on spending.

im not sure how you can check if the disk is failing except in panther

if you have panther go to
utilities
disk utility
click on your hd
and the S.M.A.R.T Status will tell you if the disk is in bad shape

Stick your Hardware Test CD in, if your iMac came with one and you will be able to tell what is wrong.
