I am going mental! I´ve tried everything, but I can´t open a htm file on my mac! I´ve tried dreamweaver, firefox, opera, safari, quicktime mplayer, vlc but still no sigar. Could anyone please help, or am I forever doomed to live in a world without the possibility to use a htm file?

Cheers!

.htm files open in safari and firefox (I didn't try qt or vlc) here just fine.

try changing the extension to .html, though it shouldn't make a difference.

I tried firefox and Safari. But another question: Is the htm file supposed to be only 4k, or can this mean that there´s noting in that file?

An .htm file is usually just a bookmark or a bit of code, so it COULD be 4K, but most likely it's just empty.

If it's not opening in many of those programs, there is likely something wrong with the file. An HTML file should open in Dreamweaver, Firefox, Opera and Safari as those applications are meant to handle HTML files. If it doesn't open in any of those, I would suggest that you get a copy of the file from someone else (if it was sent to you) or that you re-download/save it.

Ok. The strange thing is that this HTM file works on a pc, but not on my mac. I would like to blame Microsoft for this, but I don´t know if that would be right thing to do.

There was a whole folder, but I just tried to open up the index.htl file. Should I tri to open any other files at the same time?

Thank you guys for helpin me out on this. :)

When you say it doesn't open, do you mean that you just get a blank page or do you get some sort of an error message? What happens if you use QuickLook (highlight the file and press the spacebar)?

When I higlight it and presses space I get a blank image. Any tips on other programs who can open this file, or could it be empty? If I open it in a browser it´s just nothing. It´s all white.

Sure sounds like there's nothing in that file. That would also explain why it's only 4K (as chas alluded to). If you want confirmation, open it with TextEdit to see what the contents are.
