Unfortunately, when that happens and the system asks the drive "Are you there?" it gets no answer as the drive has to spin back up to speed and the query times out. The system then thinks the drive is disconnected (since it didn't respond in time). Nothing you can do about it unless the drive is configurable with some utility from the vendor to set it to NOT sleep. Never seen one of those, it's theoretical. There is an app called Amphetimine that can be set to keep the drives awake. it's in the Mac App Store.</p></blockquote><p></p>
