Having to reset brighness often

PB G4. 15" 512MB RAM & EMac G4 superdrive
I have a G3 ibook that I have to change the brightness on quite often. I set it and then when I boot it a few days later it dims itself again. Is this an indication that my battery is dying? Any ideas? :confused:
