Graphic Display Error

Hi All, just noticed this slight error on my late 2014 iMac 27inch 5k

notice when pressing f4 to get my applications panel up, my open windows and task bar are slightly viewable even when on the applications panel

Also when resizing my dock, the original size of the dock icons stays faintly in place too - anyone else had this happen? Or know what's causing it?

You're referring to your "launchpad.app" which can be activated with the F4 key.

What resolution are you using with your iMac? Is it the native resolution or have you changed it for scaling purposes?

I just tried this with my iMac (2017 27" 5K) and can not reproduce the error you're seeing.

yeah the launchpad app (sorry forgot what it was called)

I'm using the native resolution, this has only started happening the last few days, of which in that time i've not changed any settings etc.

Very strange error, hopefully it's not graphic related.

Try doing a SMC reset for your iMac. That also involves rebooting it. Let's see if the error goes away.

Reset SMC on an iMac, Mac Mini, or Mac Pro

• Shut down your Mac.
• Hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
• Release the power button, wait a few seconds, then restart the computer.
• If the problem hasn't gone away, turn off your Mac again.
• Unplug the power cord.
• Wait 15 seconds.

If it is graphic related - what would be the next step regarding that?

If the SMC reset doesn't work, the next step would be to run a hardware diagnostics test.
