I just started using OS 10.15.7 (Catalina) on a new (to me) MacBook Pro. I save lots of images and screengrabs from my desktop. I see Grab has been replaced by something called Screenshot. I find it as difficult and incomprehensible to use as I found Grab easy & straightforward. I can't do anything with it. It won't even let me put it on the dock. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

The ability to screenshot is essentially built into macOS and doesn't require a new app anymore.

You have multiple ways of grabbing a screenshot.

Hit CMD+SHIFT+3 to grab a full window screenshot.
Hit CMD+SHIFT+4 to have the cursor change to crosshairs so that you can select any area you want to screenshot.
Hit CMD+SHIFT+5 to get a box that you can resize to your desired size and then click Capture on the screenshot bar to grab a screenshot.

You can also control the folder where the screenshots go. I like to keep them in a folder by itself as opposed to the Desktop or other shared location.

Screenshot is an app from Apple, included with the OS, and, as usual, Apple has an online guide for using it:
