Good, basic software to convert mpeg to DVD?

There is a host of software out there, however I am just looking to perform basic mpg conversions into DVD format. I am not looking for a free ride, although sometimes freeware does the trick.
Video isn't my forte', so I am hoping for some guidance - some steering toward a simple, easy to use program. There seems to be a great deal of DVD to mpeg/mpg or any format to Apple Quicktime available ... things start gettin' fuzzy about this time in the search. :Oops: Thanks!

I like Handbrake. many have also recommended mactheripper. Personally i lean towards handbrake.

I have handbrake, macthe ripper, and Toast 8. First 2 are free.

I may be wrong but I believe handbrake rips to mp4, avi, and ogm
Macthe ripper to Video-ts
Toast 8 converts video-ts to dvd, mp4 to mpeg 2, avi to DVD.

Let the search function be your friend........its all been discussed many times before
