Getting worried about the amount of space my Photos library was taking up on my MBP, I found an app called PhotoSweeper to eliminate thousands of duplicates and free up some disk space. It was very quick and easy to use. I couldn't believe how many there were and have no idea where they were stored. It will deal with iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom or Capture One libraries as well as Photos.

There's a 'lite' version (£2.99) which doesn't have the range of comparison settings or the ability to find 'similar' shots.
