Hey. I'm getting kernel panics. 4 of them this evening.

This is the latest one. Can someone help me decipher?

It's a Steinberg UR22 audio interface. I use it to record. I have unplugged it and restarted. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for your help!

Does anyone else see anything suspicious?

Edit: Yamaha have stated that the UR22 cannot be installed under Yosemite, but existing installs should continue to work without a problem after the update... hmm... I'll leave it unplugged for the time being and see what happens.

Only the Yamaha as it crops up first.

ok cool. Things seem to be stable again too. Machine has been on for about 6 hours or so now without issue.

I'll email yamaha and inquire if there will be a new version of the software, or if I'm SOL...

Thanks for your help folks!

It's not just a Sound card as it has SPDIF, XLR and 1/4" inputs/outputs. I'm sure there will be a fix for it in time. They haven't been out on the market too long and it's quite popular amongst the home recording crowd.

If it doesn't get resolved there are definitely other choices.

Thanks again!

Not yet. I was out with my lady last night and am gone for most of the day today. Emailing them will be a project for this evening when I get home. I will report any findings.

An update for this problem. As far as I can find, Yamaha's stance on this problem is "if you want to continue using your [insert anything from the LONG list of stuff that isn't compatible with Yosemite] don't upgrade.

So I've traded in my interface for a different one. I seem to have good timing with this stuff as last night when I went to the store where I do most of my music equipment dealings, they had just taken in a trade for a Tascam unit that is only a few years old and a quarter of its original price. It works flawlessly with Yosemite and it has 16 discreet audio inputs compared to the two on the unit I traded in. Score! I am very happy to have my home studio back up and running and more useful to boot!

Nothing wrong with Yamaha audio gear Harry. I've used their gear over the years and it works great. I've used everything from their commercial grade power amps (500W per channel), mixers, and even home stereo receivers. I've never interfaced them with a PC or Mac though. Never had to. ;) Tascam makes some pretty good stuff too.

I've like Yamaha stuff in the past and I'll consider them in the future, but in this case, it's a no go.

I actually changed my deal and used a Drum Machine in trade for the Tascam unit, so I'm keeping the UR22 to use as a portable unit with my MacBook, since it is stuck at Lion, no compatibility issues!
