Gargantuous iPhoto files normal?

Studio, 32gb RAM, BenQ 270C Monitor, OS X 14.1.2
Over the weekend I needed to export an iPhoto slide show. I first tried using a 16 gig thumb drive but got an error message that the file was 26 gig in size. I then exported to an external HD and to my amazement it took over 7 hours to complete and wound up being 446gigs in size!!! THis is my first experience with iPhoto. Is this normal behavior for it? The slide show consisted of 200 images, each about 16 megs, and about 20 minutes of music files. Also, the "Ken Burns" effect was in place.
