Garageband help

I'm not sure if there is a Garageband section - I'm sorry if this is posted incorrectly. I have a few questions with Garageband that I can't seem to find.

1) How do you play or record a track from the center (not the beginning?). I can't find a shortcut for this.

2) Is there a keyboard shortcut for record?

3) Sometimes when I copy/paste a section to extend through the song, only the original section plays (not the rest)...?

You're in the right place. I don't use Garageband, but I'm sure someone will be along to help. While you're waiting for an answer please provide some specs for us: Your Mac (year and model) and which version of OS X you're currently running.
