Garage Band - Midi track splitter??

Hi,

Please, please, can anyone help?

How do you split the drum track of an imported midi file in Garage Band (OS X Lion 10.7.1); i.e.., split the drum track into separate tracks for kick drum, snare, hi-hat, crash cymbal etc. etc. in order to enable changing the parameters of each one separately.
I have searched but can't find an answer.
Do I need third party software, if so, can anyone recommend anything.

Any help GREATLY appreciated!!

have each one as a different instrument track, and only program in the part that you want for that specific track.

I've sorted the issue now and have recently upgraded to Logic Express 9 so that's another new learning curve!!
