I recently was enjoying some games on my Macbook although the fan started to run quick high. While this is normal, it irritates me to no end lol

I was wondering if anyone knew of some games, new or old, which run smoothly, with mininum fan usage?

LOL. I assume the older the game, the simpler the graphics will be and the less taxing for the system it will be.

I would like to know this too. I was playing Defcon and suddenly is went from 120F @2500 RPM to 170F @6000! Yikes. My MBP was about to take off! I'm not sure if is is safe to run the fans a 6K constantly, the lenght to play the game.

From what I hear, as long as your mac doesnt shut itself off, the fans running at full are ok, as long as its not for a long long time.

Personally, hearing the fans run at full when I am trying to play a game worries me to no end, so I dont play the game because I'm too worried about my mac lol

Have played multiple 4-6 hour strectches of WoW. With all video set on max. Believe me, that starts the fans a running within 60 seconds of starting the game and they never stop as long as I'm in the game. But then, neither do the fans on my desktop video card when I'm playing some 3d intense game. Fans are just doing what they were designed for here.

And personally, I think the fans on the MBP are extremely quiet at what they do. All you can hear, really, is the movement of the air. If ya'll think these are loud, you've never built (or should I say heard) a high end gaming rig that's not water cooled. Now that can get downright obnoxious with a 1/2 dozen fans in the case. That is unless you've also got your 5.1 sound system set up while you're playing.

Computers run loud - my PC on the floor goes like crazy. The only difference is that it's nearer your ears!
