What operating system? Sounds a good price, but you'll need another 256Mb RAM and OS X Tiger.

Knock them down to $400 because you need the extra memory. Maybe $350 if it doesn't have Tiger.

You are 1/3 of the way to a new Core 2 Duo 17" iMac.

This machine will do you fine as my work machine is an 867. These are solid machines but are not up to date hardware wise. The answer is - if I spend 800 more can I do more with a new iMac? Tough call.
