I'm new here, so I hope you'll bear with me.

I have a G4PowerMac running loads of graphics software on OS 9.2.2. I'm finally about to make the move to OSX (Tiger) and I've been checking out all the compatibility issues with my various bits and pieces and peripherals. Such an ordeal.

Anyway, here are some issues I'm still unsure about that maybe some of you clever people can help me with:

1. I'm sorted for new software but I've discovered that my scanner is defunct (no Tiger driver available). I've decided to buy a Canon Pixma mulitfunction machine that is OSX compatible but it requires USB 2.0. How do I go about upgrading my machine?

2. If I do this, will my other USB devices still work? I'm running a CD burner and a modem (along with the current printer and scanner) through a USB hub.

3. Are there any other issues I should be aware of if I upgrade to USB 2.0?

I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me. And you should know, I don't really know how to open up a Mac, so be gentle. Thank you!

Thanks Harry, but tell me - how do I actually install this sort of thing? Bear in mind, I've never opened up a Mac to add RAM or anything so the very idea of it terrifies me!

It's a 6 year old PowerMac G4 400Mhz, 64MB RAM, 20G HD.
I had extra RAM added years ago. In System Profiler it tells me that I've got built in memory of 704MB:
64MB - PC100 222S
128MB - PC 100 222S
512MB - PC 100 322S

Don't know if that means anything in terms of what we're talking about.

Thanks for bearing with me on this.
