I was planning to buy a MBP next month, but I just read a post where a person brought up the point that Apple will most likely intro. new Macbook's in a few months or so. My question is, would I be better to wait a few months and see what happens? Is there a strong opinion that they may release new MB's around the Leopard release date?
This will be my first Mac and I would be a little upset if I went and bought a current MBP and then come Nov. they release a new one.
I'm just looking for some opinions.

Thanks

I mean a redesign.

What exactly would they redesign? It has the fastest mobile processor currently available for the Santa Rosa platform, the 2.4ghz dual-core from Intel. It has the new LED backlighting. It has support for 4 gigs of ram. There's nothing better available from parts suppliers at the moment. However, as always, if you wait long enough there will be an upgrade. I believe that the Santa Rosa platforum supports up to 8 gigs of ram, although there aren't any manufacturers currently producing 4 gig sticks yet. I also think that the chips are slated to be released at 2.6 and 2.8ghz, so you might be looking at a 2.6/2.8ghz MacBook Pro with up to 8 gigs of ram within the next year. Although 8 gigs of ram would be ridiculously expensive for a laptop when it first becomes available. Possibly a Blu-ray drive internally, if Apple choosed to adopt HD - but I don't think they will yet because laptop Blu-ray drives run about $900 each instead of $80 like the normal DVD burners. Quad-core laptop chips may also come out within the next year or so. Really just depends on what you want, how much you're willing to spend, and how long you're willing to wait.

So other than Leopard, what are you waiting for? :)

I seriously doubt you'll a redesign anytime soon. I wouldn't expect anything until well into 2008 at the earliest.

Point of fact, they did do some mild adjustments to the current design when they introed the SR chip.

Blu Ray is not 900$, it's expensive but not that expensive. I could see a viable HD option in the notebook line.

Only thing I could see apple adding that their notebooks don't have is a fingerprint scanner, it's got all the other features of other notebooks, the internals are great etc.
