Hmm... I'll trade you a Custom painted black Powerbook G4...Specs are:

Custom Black paint
15.2 LCD, 1152X768
500mhz G4 processor
512mb RAM
40Gb Hard drive
6x slot-load DVD
Mac OSX Tiger
Yo-yo Power adapter
Brand new battery
Airport card

AND trade an extra Powerbook G4 specs:
400Mhz G4 Processor
320 RAM
30Gb HD
6x slot-load DVD
VGA out, S-video out, 2 USB, 1 firewire, ethernet, phone modem, sound out, pc card slot.
yo-yo Power adapter
LCD rear cover, front bezel, data cable, no LCD.
This machine can run as a desktop.

Both machines are functionally sound. The second one has no LCD, hence it's being used as a hybrid Mac....part desktop, part laptop. I'll trade both machines for the Macbook. I can even include a Windows Laptop... it's got a 6gb HD, no OS installed, Battery.

No thanks.

Only interested in a 12" Powerbook, and I guess I should say a minimum of 1.2ghz processor. No iBooks either please.

Not 100% sure I want to do this, but I want to at least explore the options.

Thanks,
Dirk

For those who have asked why I am selling and not just sending it back, I am not able to return the Macbook because I customized it from the factory. As such it's non-returnable.

3 years of Applecare
black Neoprene sleeve
original box and all accessories (incl. a DVI adapter)
13" Macbook
2.0ghz Intel Core Duo
1gb RAM
4x superdrive
yadda yadda yadda - you know the specs.

Paid over $2K about 2 weeks ago.

My laptop use is limited to web surfing and occasional audio work (2-4 channels), so the Macbook is way overkill for what I need. I got the standard black 13" with superdrive upgraded with 1gb RAM and Applecare until 2009.
Actually, your needs fit right into the MacBook market audience. The MacBook is NOT a professional level machine... and your needs and uses are NOT on a professional level. What you want to do is right up the MacBook's alley, so to speak. It shouldn't be seen as overkill. Trading for a PowerBook is kinda silly, since you would be trading "up". A PowerBook, even one that is a step or two back, would be overkill for your needs. PowerBooks are professional level machines.
Just something to consider. Seems to me like you just have a case of buyer's remorse. You have only had the machine for a couple weeks. Give it a little time and you will see that it is right for your needs and uses.

Not that I have to justify my reasoning to you, but the Macbook is a little too bulky for me. I'm used to ultraportables. I was all set to pull the trigger on a 12" PB the day the Macbooks came out. It wasn't until I took the MB off the desktop that I realized it was a little too much, strictly from a size perspective, for my use in the field. For my intended purposes in Pro Audio, smaller form factor is better. Regardless of that, I can accomplish what I need on the Macbook it's just more inconvenient than I thought it would be.

Will I keep it? Sure, if I can't swing a deal. But that should be no concern of yours, nor should you concern yourself with whether or not I'm making the right decision. Only I know what's right for me, so quit crapping in my thread please.

To the others who posted, not looking for anything but a 12" PB in this deal. No iMacs, iBooks or larger PB's please.

Thanks,
Dirk

I may have found the Powerbook I'm looking for, so I'm thinking about selling the MacBook outright now. Anyone interested?

If so, drop me a line.

Sorry. The whole idea for me here is SMALLER FORM FACTOR.

I don't see why you can't return it, considering you only bought extra RAM.
But I could be wrong.............

I already checked into it. Any customization above the stock configuration makes it a non-returnable item.

Ah well, if no one's interested in it I'll just keep it. It sure is a nice looking laptop. Very well thought out, for sure.
