FreeoOffice opening as PAGES

I decided recently to abandon Libre Office word processor and download Free Office as advised by members in March 2020. When I type out a document using TextMakerFree 2018 and save it all as normal it opens as a PAGE document when I re-open it. Also any excel files I have on file open as NUMBERS when I re-open them. What’s going on? Have I done/not done something. Also If I e-mail a FreeOffice written file it comes out as a Pages file!

The OS is probably defaulting to Pages since LibreOffice is no longer on your system, and Pages is the default for that type of file. Try this and see if it fixes the problem:

1. Single-click one of the files you are trying to open.
2. Press Command I simultaneously or choose Get Info from the File menu.
3. Look for an area marked Open With and click that area if you need to expand it.
4. Choose the program you want to use to open the file and apply that to all such files.
