footnotes glitch Word2004

I inserted footnotes via "insert" in Menu in a Word2004 doc, then could see them in "print" mode, but not "draft" mode in View. However, when I sent doc as attachment, footnotes disappeared entirely! Is this a glitch? Any way to repair it?

Welcome to the Mac Forums.

Your copy of Word is very old (2004) so I'm not sure I can be of help since I'm using Word 2011. However, footnotes, page numbers, etc, (everything below the bottom margin) may not show up in draft mode but should definitely be viewable in print mode and print out. Do the footnotes show up in "print preview" prior to printing the document?
