So my macbook refused to start this morning so i did some searching and as the picture below shows it does not look good.
Though maybe it is fixable, so maybe some experts have a take on this? Will replacing the resistor fix the problem or is it way more complicated then that? Also im not good in the schematics of the logic board but can anyone tell me what kind of resistor it is?

The motherboard is from a A1278 Macbook Pro 13" mid 2012 (non retina). Thanks in advance!

I can tell you that it's probably not worth it to replace the burnt component because you don't know what caused it in the first place. Unless you spilled something like water or another liquid on your MacBook Pro and caused a short? The entire logic board should probably be replaced and that can be expensive. You may be able to do it yourself by purchasing a logic board from eBay. The ifixit site has instructions:

The macbook had a liquid spill 1,5 years ago, so thats probably the cause of the malfunction now. In those 1,5 years i have been using the macbook extensively so after a year i thought the macbook would survive. So it came as a surprise for me that the macbook did not turn on yesterday.

Yesterday i looked up some companies that do motherboard repairs, that will be around 380 euro (400 dollars) could that be something to try? Or will it just extend the life of the macbook by some since probably the fault is not only at the resistor?

What is the current used value of the computer? What is the cost of a used replacement logic board?

Generally speaking. Logic board repairs or logic board replacements with Apple computers is not cost effective. With a 3 year-old computer (2012)…it's usually a borderline situation.
