Fix Alias?

Im trying to connect to my old computer which is running ubuntu, so i can get my music files. It shows up under MSHome, but when i try to connect, it says that it couldnt open the alias ubuntu? i just got my macbook today and im still trying to learn!

The Alias is jacked... Try using the IP of the machine and FTP to download your music to the Mac. If you want to remote connect try to mount the drive via SMB connection. I prefeer doing it this way in terminal:
mount -t smbfs //server/dirname /mountdirectory -o username=username,password=password

make sure you create a dir to share to...

or

Use the Mac built in SMB Connect. Finder, Go, Connect to Server. You'll have to enable file sharing on the Ubuntu machine to establish a connection for either method.
