I will be graduating college in May and plan to take a year then go to law school. I am sick and tired of my two previous dells being fraught with hardware and software problems so I am ready to switch.

I like to do mild picture and video editing. I will need OfficeX for law school. But I can't decide on laptop or desktop. The only thinkg I don't like is the keyboard. I hate typing on laptop keyboards. what are your guys' general thoughts? Thanks

Get the best of both worlds buy the 12 in PB with a bluetooth key and mouse and external monitor.

I'd go for a powermac G5 then get a Powerbook G5 just before you go to law school (if you can afford it), or just get a powerbook as said above. If you have the time try switching the keys on your laptop keyboard to a Dvorak layout, Mac OS X supports it out of the box and it makes typing on a laptop far easier once you learn it (in about 6 hours of typing you'll be comfortable with it switching from querty, then you shoud just get faster).

the site can explain dvorak better than I can, hehe, and don't be worried about forgetting how to type on a qwerty keyboard, I can type just as fast as I could before, it just feels more uncomfortable.

I'd say go for the PowerBook as well. Going to law school you'll appreciate having your work w/ you at all times. And you'll get over the small keyboard. My iBook is all I use anymore and I originally felt the same as you. Don't worry, you'll get used to it and if not just get a USB or bluetooth KB like the others said.

Welcome aboard! ;)

I'll have you know that I just spent all week learning dvorak thanks to that post :) I now know how to type it (doing so now) but at the moment I'm slower than a QWERTY hunt and peck typer!

lol after using ichat for a while I was pretty quick hehe, if you switch between querty and dvorak at the start its trickier, went all dvorak for three days and now its great ;P

That's always the difficulty... because it takes me like half an hour to type a typical message at the moment, I keep switching back to QWERTY just to rattle off a quick comment and move on to something else. But I shall persevere for a bit :)
