firmware downgrade?

24" iMac 2.8GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, iphone 3G, & Classic ipod
Hello All, Is there a way to downgrade firmware? I hold down the option button and clicked restore (while the phone was in restore mode) to select an older version but it always updates with the newest firmware. Any suggestions?

Why would you want to downgrade? ... 2.0.2 is where you really should be.I find 2.0.2 to be better than 2.0
