Is anyone else experiencing strange behaviour in Finder with a number of their computers showing up in shared devices? See screenshot below.

If it's new to you, it only means you had 'Sharing' turned off so that it did not appear there.

You can do the same now by opening Finder - Preferences - Sidebar and uncheck Sharing.

(It looks like Yosemite may be turning that item on by default upon install, ignoring your previous preference settings.)

thanks bobtomay

I had sharing checked (always have) and only 1 version of my iMac would show up.

Also, in devices, my iMac is now showing as 27" iMac (9) - they appear to be reproducing!?

Something I might try in that case...

Turn off all your Macs.

Turn on one machine - turn off Sharing - close System Preferences - go back in and turn sharing back on - then do a Repair Permissions - turn that machine off - do the same on the next one.

thanks again

did what you said - I no longer have several versions of my iMac showing up under shared devices.

when I openned Finder this morning my iMac was listed under devices as 27" iMac (2). an hour later it is showing up as 27" iMac (4). I've no idea why it's doing this - I haven't re-booted or done anything other than a bit of browsing.
